Jenny Miller: Pilates in Bellevue

About Jenny

Jenny Miller has been practicing Pilates since 1996 and teaching in the Bellevue/Redmond area since 2000. She completed her 600 hour instructor training and certification in 2002. She did her training with Gail Anderson, a nationally acclaimed Pilates teacher of teachers. Jenny worked in Gail's studio for two years, one of the finest Pilates studios in the northwest. Jenny then started her own studio in 2002, now Vajra Pilates.

Jenny has studied anatomy at Bastyr University in Kirkland, Wash. and anatomy and physiology with RPT and Pilates Trainer, Kathy Campbell. She has also taken numerous Pilates and movement workshops studying the work of Pilates elders, Kathy Grant and Mary Bowen (www.pilates-marybowen.com) and movement master Eve Gentry. Other studies include Advanced Pilates Flow with Michael Miller, Shoulder mechanics with Rael Iscowitz, Knee Pathology and Treatment with Karen Clippinger, Reformer repertoire with Lolita San Miguel, Mat work and Decompression with Madeline Black, Mat work and Core/Arm connection stabilization with Elizabeth Larkam, Being a Great Teacher with Amy Alpers, Mat with Tom McCook and Spinal Mobility with Nora St John. Jenny completed a Physical Therapy Training for Fitness Professionals at Seattle’s Movement Systems Physical Therapy (www.movementsystemspt.com).

Jenny currently studies Jai Power Yoga with Brian Bales (www.b1yoga.com) and has taken relative segments of Ana Forrest’s Advanced Yoga Teacher Training. She has a BA from WWU in Recreation and Environmental Studies.

Jenny’s newest venture is Muscle Activation Technique (MAT) http://www.muscleactivation.com/main.html. She has begun a two year training in this biomechanically based system that corrects muscular imbalances in the body helping individuals slow their bodies aging process and reduce compensation of weakness’ due to injuries or body wear and tear. MAT has helped Jenny with her compromised knee tremendously and many of Jenny’s clients have benefited with relief of back, shoulder and neck pain from MAT.

Jenny has intensively studied with Ken Russell, who teaches The Way of Seeing® (www.thewayofseeing.com), which shows how to bring awareness and meditation into everyday life. This practice has enabled Jenny to be more in touch with her depth and has helped cultivate a stronger sense of joy and vibrancy in her life. Part of Jenny's ongoing studies involved co-teaching a weekly meditation class in Seattle (www.thewayofseeing.com/meditation_classes.html) for the Vidyana Foundation, which offers The Way of Seeing®. Integrating this work into her Pilates lessons enables Jenny to be more sensitive and creative with assisting clients to not only become physically stronger and leaner but also to foster a sense of how to make their lives work better.

"I have been practicing Pilates for three years; the longest that I have been consistent with any sport, and I believe this is thanks to Jenny. We first met at a studio where she used to teach, where soon after I started I requested her permanently, as I saw that she was the best teacher. You can always expect new challenges from Jenny's work yet she's very attentive to one's body. Up until four days before my second child, I was still doing Pilates. Now a year later, my body is stronger than ever. I'm sure my Pilates with Jenny is the reason for feeling so good with my body." Michal
